Animations...

Hey,

It's been a long time since I updated this poor blog... I added some animations (e-cards for 2010) to the side. They ate up some of my time lately.

I am not forcing myself to sketch every night anymore... I did more daily sketches since I stopped updating this blog, but later decided not to force it anymore and just let it go. Some nights it was a real chore and I just made garbage, so I figured why bother. It was a good learning experience, though, and maybe I'll return. Anyway, with all the meetings at work I get lots of chances to sketch everyday. :) Also, I do little sketches all the time at the computer and stuff, it's in the blood...

Oh well, I'm thinking of starting a short animation... Hopefully I get my act together and get on that.

Sketches - Week 25

Another week, more sketches...

An assortment. I was watching UFC Fight Night, so that's why one guy looks like he's ready to fight.
It's a build up from nothing to a person to a city to a continent to the earth and so on... Kind of something to do with loneliness...
A fat guy who I met this week...
Gas masks are always cool on guys... He's got some sort of disease anyway.
I don't know why this came out. I had nothing good to draw.
Trying to hold everything under control and it just kind of starts leaking out and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. It's a hopeless mess...

Some cowboys and stuff... Probably the most fun drawing of the batch this week...

Sketches - Week 24

Random cowboy type guy with two guns... No rhyme or reason to it.
A character I draw occasionally that was for use in a fighting game I was working on. There's another pic of him in this blog with a slightly different look.
Big robot with human type emotion on his face. I kind of like him...

Escape is not an option... sometimes.
Octopus type thing because I hadn't drawn one in ages...
Roger Ramjet and friends/enemies... I was watching some of these on DVD lately. They're OK if you're in the mood for it.

Sketches - Week 23

I've been kind of in a weird state of mind lately. Actually I feel kind of out of my mind lately. A little depressed and I don't know what else. Anyway, that's why this one is a cheat and it's actually Wednesday although I put the post date to Sunday. I just didn't feel like posting - I still forced myself to do the daily sketch, I just didn't feel like putting them up...

Anyway, this was probably my favourite from this week...
A heart in a hand... Really rough and quick...
Speaking of really rough and quick, some random robots and things drawn from memory. Yeah, Dalek things aren't actually robots.
Some metal head girl... comes with bat for added playability.
Some freaked out guy...
Red riding hood picture... There was going to be a wolf here or on the next page that never materialized. She turns around and he's not there... Maybe that's the story, she really wishes she wasn't alone and the wolf was there even though he's a monster, but he's not and she's just all alone.
Cowboy type...
Some girl on TV... It's hard to draw people from TV when it's moving and not being good standing still. :)


Oh well, hopefully the next batch are more worthy. Not that this is meant to be anything other than the random sketches from my sketch book.

Sketches - Week 22

A happy go lucky chap with his eyes sown shut and clumps of hair all over his head, but not properly distributed. He eats eyes, you know...
Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat... Random drawings while watching some Rocky and Bullwinkle. I didn't have a good reference, things move too fast when you try to draw them from the screen while they're playing.
Some random things I drew one night...
I like this one... The guy basically lets his arm destroy the other guy. He's not looking at him, just letting it happen. It reminded me later of the guy from Akira, but it wasn't really based on that.

A warrior type... I think I was watching Deadliest Warrior when I drew this...
A girl giving out some orders... Kind of like this one. She was going to be some sort of Nazi type, but I didn't give her the insignia and just made her a generic girl with some sort of fettishy stuff for fun.

Sketches - Week 21

It was a fairly lackluster week (again) for sketches. I've been having quite a few headaches lately and haven't felt that well... I am glad that I did manage to stick with this and continue to stick with it. It's important, because maybe one day I'll find a new method or draw something interesting. Practice can only help, even when it produces junk. :)

So this guy is saying page 1 of book 2... I started my 2nd sketchbook...
This was some weird thing I drew one day with sores on him...

Cute girl with her knees bent in... I kind of like how she turned out, but unfortunately I didn't take the picture flat with the page...

Sketches - Week 20

Well, there's one page left in my current sketchbook. Amazing, but if you do something everyday you eventually finish off these books.

Nothing amazing this week in terms of sketches, just random things. I was working on my Mom's birthday card in most of my free time. You can click here to see it. It's kind of based on Survivor and Russell Hantz, although this is a game called Survival with a Hussell Rantz. ;)

Anyway, some sleeping people. The top one is comfortable, the bottom one is awake staring at the ceiling.

Business man teaching us a lesson in screwing over your own employees for profit (or fun).

Another girl... This is more distorted than it was in the book, I take the photos at odd angles sometimes.

A cowboy... I think he looks OK for a cartoon cowboy without an reference, although I'd like to get a better hat on him.

Overall, an uninspiring week of sketches... I wasn't in the best of moods and my pencil crayons kept breaking off on me!!! Very frustrating... Oh well...

That's it... I have an animation I have to work through this week and was thinking about not sketching everyday in support of it, but I think I will continue... Uninspired or not I think it's a good habit and I can accidentally learn things along the way.
